Hi everyone.
My name is Sue Petersen. I am a clinical nutritionist who is passionate about eating, well, passionate about eating healthy whole foods and an avid learner of how food affects your body. I want to share with you how I became enthusiastic about healthy food. To begin with, I have a science background and worked in the environmental and pharmaceutical fields for the last 20 years. I knew deep down that pharmaceuticals helped many people but I always felt it was a band-aid and never addressed the root cause. I personally eat what “felt” good to me. As long as it was easy, convenient, loaded with sugar and caffeine, I was ok with my choices. Why not? Everyone else was eating what I ate, so it can’t be bad? Right? Then I got sick, yup, cancer. I was overweight, constantly tired, in pain and faced major surgery. I was extremely depressed and I wanted answers. I started looking but everything was overwhelming, conflicting and complex. Even though it looked hopeless, I did find an underlying message that my illness could have been avoided with proper food and lifestyle choices. I discovered 90% of illness could be dramatically affected by nutrition. Wow, simply changing one's food choices could either create or destroy health. I decided to become a life long learner of nutrition. Once my perspective changed, I made a profound shift in my career by going back to school, at the age of 45, to pursue a Master’s Degree in clinical nutrition. My family thought I was a bit crazy, but since then they have become my biggest supporters. I could tell you my journey was easy, it was challenging. More importantly, I felt my journey has empowered me and lifted my self esteem. Let me share with you, that after going on this journey, I feel amazing, have more self-confidence and more energy. It has brought me a positive outlook on life and keeps me wanting more. By far, the rewards have out weighed the challenge. Your health journey may feel as though you will be going against the grain of society, your family, your friends and your own self-beliefs. It does not have to be this way, it can feel extremely rewarding and empowering. Much like a ripple effect, it will benefit everyone around you. You will learn new skills, drop old beliefs that do not serve you, you will develop flexibility with your eating so you can enjoy delicious meals while maintain your weight. My vision is to empower you and show you the tools, so you can have your own health journey and reap what is important for your life. That is why I created Health Simple and how to apply everyday nutrition. So make yourself a cup of tea, come on into My World, learn and apply what works for You. Together we will design the healthiest choices to make your lifestyle amazingly healthy and simple. Contact me @ sue.petersen.health@gmail.com
